Polish dancing has always been a big part of my family and I's life. My dad and his two siblings grew up being Polish dancers and the tradition has been passed down to my generation. My father still participates and has been for the last 40+ years, and now my brothers and I are continuing the tradition. All together my family has over 100+ years dedicated to Polish dancing. Let me take you on a tour of my dancing journey!
Timeline
I make so many friends who will become my life-long support system
So we grow
2008
My parents enroll me in the Halka Polish Folk Dance Ensemble in 2008 and I begin my journey!
2009
After much persuasion, both of my brothers, Zachary and Christian, join and fall in love with the family tradition.
and grow
2018
Dance consumes our lives and we collaborate with the Zajaczek Dance Ensemble to preform at the 10th Polonijny Festiwal Dzieciecych Zespolow Folklorystycznych in Iwonicz, Poland as the Halka-Zajaczek Polish Folk Dance Ensemble.
2021
I graduate high school and get presented to the PRCUA Michigan society as a member of the Polish community vowing to keep my heritage alive. Completing a total of 13 years with Halka alongside 3 amazing friends whom I grew up with and traveled to Poland with. I then have to retire my dancing boots and start my college career at Michigan State University.
2022
I come back home for the summer and get the opportunity to be the 2022 Polish Heritage Princess of Sterling Heights. I get to be in the annual Memorial Day parade, have a day dedicated to me, and interact with the community during Polish related events!
2023 and on
I have now joined the Zakopane Polish Folk Dance Ensemble alongside my dad, both brothers, and even some cousins! It has been amazing to be back in my dancing shoes and getting more opportunities to dance all over the country! Zakopane was invited to dance in the Miwaulkee Polish Festival and that is where I made my debut with the adult group!!!
